Is the word xampu the same in Brazilian and European Portuguese?

No. While the meaning and grammatical function are the same, the spelling and pronunciation differ. In Brazil, the word is spelled xampu (a phonetic adaptation). In Portugal, the standard spelling is champô. Because of this spelling difference, the pronunciation also changes: the Brazilian version ends in a closed "u" sound ([ˈʃampu]), whereas the Portuguese version ends in a nasalized "ô" sound ([ʃɐ̃ˈpo]).
