Is the word teu the same in Brazilian and European Portuguese?

While the spelling and the basic meaning ("your") of "teu" remain the same, there is a significant difference in grammatical usage and agreement.

In Continental Portuguese, "teu" is strictly bound to the second-person singular pronoun tu. It is grammatically incorrect in Portugal to use "teu" when addressing someone as você.

In Brazilian Portuguese, the usage is much more fluid, especially in informal speech. Even when using the third-person pronoun você (the standard way to address people in most of Brazil), speakers frequently use "teu" instead of the grammatically "correct" counterpart, "seu." This creates a "mixed" person agreement (using a 2nd-person possessive with a 3rd-person subject) that is a hallmark of natural, colloquial Brazilian speech. Additionally, the vocabulary surrounding the word often changes between the two dialects.
