Is the word porque the same in Brazilian and European Portuguese?

Yes

The spelling, grammar, and meaning of the four variations of "porque" (por que, porque, por quê, and porquê) are identical in both Brazilian and European Portuguese. The only difference is pronunciation: in Brazil, the unstressed "e" is typically pronounced as a high front vowel [i] (sounding like "kee"), whereas in Portugal, the unstressed "e" is reduced to a near-close central vowel [ɨ] (a sound similar to the "e" in "the").
