Is the word plataforma the same in Brazilian and European Portuguese?

Yes

The only difference between the two is pronunciation. In Brazilian Portuguese, the vowels are generally more open and the unstressed syllables are clearly articulated. In Continental Portuguese, unstressed vowels are often "reduced" or almost silenced, which makes the word sound much more clipped and closed.
