Is the word planos the same in Brazilian and European Portuguese?

No.

While the spelling, grammar, and core definition of "planos" are identical in both Brazilian and Continental Portuguese, there is a difference in typical usage. In Brazil, "planos" is the standard term used when referring to health insurance or mobile/data subscriptions. In Portugal, while "planos" is understood, speakers more naturally use "seguros" (insurance) or "tarifários" (tariffs/plans) for these specific contexts. Additionally, there is a significant difference in pronunciation: in most of Brazil, the "s" is pronounced as a soft /s/, whereas in Portugal, the "s" at the end of a syllable is almost always pronounced as a "sh" sound (/ʃ/).
