The word "inferior" is identical in meaning, spelling, and grammar in both Brazilian and Continental Portuguese. The only differences are found in pronunciation. In Brazilian Portuguese, the vowels are generally more open, and the final "r" varies by region (it can be aspirated, like an "h" in some regions, or nearly silent). In Continental Portuguese, the vowels are more closed and the rhythm of the word is more stress-timed, often making the unstressed syllables much shorter.
