Is the word gostaria the same in Brazilian and European Portuguese?

In Brazil, "gostaria" (the conditional tense) is the standard, polite way to express a wish or make a request. In Portugal, while "gostaria" is grammat's correctly used, people much more naturally use the imperfect tense "gostava" to express the same level of politeness in everyday conversation. Additionally, pronunciation differs significantly: Brazilian Portuguese features more open vowels and a melodic rhythm, whereas Continental Portuguese is characterized by more closed, reduced vowels and a more consonant-heavy sound.
