Is the word falando the same in Brazilian and European Portuguese?

While the meaning of the word is the same, there is a significant difference in grammatical usage. In Brazil, the gerund form (falando) is the standard way to express an ongoing or continuous action. In Portugal, however, the natural and most common way to express the same continuous action is by using the preposition a followed by the infinitive (a falar).
