Is the word encontros the same in Brazilian and European Portuguese?

Yes

The spelling, meaning, and grammar of "encontros" are identical in both Brazilian and Continental Portuguese. The only difference is pronunciation. In Brazilian Portuguese, vowels are generally more open and clearly articulated. In Continental Portuguese, unstressed vowels undergo significant "reduction." For example, the unstressed "e" in "encontros" is often much shorter or nearly silent in Portugal, sounding more like a muffled "uh" sound.
