Is the word editar the same in Brazilian and European Portuguese?
Yes.
The word "editar" is identical in meaning, spelling, and grammatical function in both Brazilian and European Portuguese. The only differences are phonetic. In Brazilian Portuguese, the vowels are generally more "open" and the rhythm is more syllable-timed. In Continental Portuguese, there is a much higher degree of vowel reduction (where unstressed vowels become shorter or almost silent), which creates a more "stress-timed" rhythm.
