Is the word daquele the same in Brazilian and European Portuguese?
Yes
The only difference is in pronunciation. In Brazilian Portuguese, the vowels are generally more open and the unstressed "e" at the end of "daquele" is clearly articulated (often sounding like a soft "i"). In European Portuguese, unstressed vowels undergo significant reduction; the "e" in "daquele" is much more closed and can sound almost silent or very brief.
Brazilian Portuguese Examples
- Eu não me lembro daquele dia. (I don't remember that day.)
- O carro daquele homem é muito rápido. (That man's car is very fast.)
- Você viu o final daquele filme? (Did you see the end of that movie?)
- Eu gosto muito daquele restaurante. (I like that restaurant very much.)
- A cor daquela flor é linda. (The color of that flower is beautiful.)
