The word is identical in meaning, spelling, and grammar in both Brazilian and Continental Portuguese. The only difference is pronunciation. In Brazilian Portuguese, the vowels are generally more open and the syllables are clearly articulated. In Continental Portuguese, unstressed vowels are much more "closed" or reduced; for instance, the "e" in barulhento is often almost silent or extremely short, making the word sound more compressed.
